GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026. The PC release has no official date — but when it arrives, you'll want to be ready. Here's what we know about GTA 6 PC requirements and how to prep your rig now.

PC release date not yet confirmed. Requirements below are projections based on Rockstar's engine history and current console hardware. We'll update the moment official specs drop. Not affiliated with Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive.

Quick Answer: No Official PC Specs Yet

Rockstar has not announced GTA 6 PC requirements as of June 2026. The PC version itself has no confirmed release date. Based on GTA 5's pattern, expect 12–24 months after console launch — so mid-to-late 2027 or 2028.

When Rockstar does release specs, we'll have them here within hours. Bookmark this page.

Why GTA 6 Will Be Demanding

Built for PS5 Hardware

The PS5 has a custom AMD RDNA 2 GPU (~10.3 TFLOPS) and a high-speed SSD (5.5 GB/s). GTA 6 is built to use these. The PC version will need to match or exceed that baseline.

Dynamic Interiors = More VRAM

GTA 6's seamless interior access (no loading screens) means more assets loaded simultaneously. Expect VRAM requirements to jump significantly from GTA 5's 4 GB minimum. 12–16 GB VRAM is likely the sweet spot at recommended settings.

Open World Scale

Six map regions, wildlife AI, dynamic weather, NPC routines — all of this runs simultaneously. The CPU workload in GTA 6 will be higher than any previous Rockstar game.

Storage Speed Matters

GTA 5 could run off a traditional HDD. GTA 6 — with seamless interiors and a massive open world — will almost certainly require or strongly recommend an NVMe SSD. Budget 150–200 GB of fast storage.

Should You Upgrade Now?

If your GPU is an RTX 30-series or RX 6000-series: You're likely fine for minimum/medium settings. Hold.

If your GPU is older than that: Consider upgrading before the PC release. The RTX 4060 Ti and RX 7800 XT are solid mid-range options in 2026.

If you're buying a new PC for GTA 6: Wait until Rockstar releases official specs. Don't spend now on projections.

Console vs. PC: Which to Choose for GTA 6

Factor Console (PS5/Xbox) PC
Launch date November 19, 2026 ✅ TBD (~2027-2028)
Cost $500-600 (console) Variable
Performance Locked 4K/60fps target Scalable, uncapped
Mods/RP servers No Yes (after PC launch)
Online GTA 6 Online day one Same, after PC launch

For the launch experience: Console. No question. For mods, RP servers, and long-term play: PC, but you'll wait.

When Will Official GTA 6 PC Specs Drop?

Rockstar typically announces PC specs 1–3 months before the PC version launches. Based on expected timeline (PC release mid-to-late 2027), expect official specs in early-to-mid 2027.

We'll post them here the moment they're announced.
